Why we stopped selling the complete house kit
We used to sell the whole house on one invoice — shell, roof, mechanicals, finishes. The people who built with it are glad they did, and they are the ones living with the result now: low energy bills and European windows that still shut properly after a Maritime winter.
It stopped working on our side of the desk. We were carrying a warehouse of components against too few kit sales, and the carrying cost ate the margin that the low price depended on. Most kits went to self-builders who needed us on site when their contractor and our drawings had different ideas — real hours that were never in the price. And most builders here frame in 2×6 and had no reason to change, so a kit built around a different wall system was always going to be a narrow market.
