Sheathing already on the wall → rough opening, sheathing intact
Sheathing not yet on, or cut back → exterior sheathing removed
Replacement
Old frame stays in the wall → one of the two pocket guides
Access from outside → pocket exterior. Scaffolding a problem or upper storey → pocket interior.
